Although there are not definitive statistics about vehicles leaving the road, most wrong-way accidents (where vehicles travel into oncoming traffic) are the result of drunk driving, debris in the road, auto part failure or confused drivers, who may not know the area. Many of these accidents are avoidable, resulting from recklessness or negligence.

Whenever a vehicle travels into oncoming traffic or leaves the roadway, catastrophic injuries or death can occur. In fact, passengers in vehicles that leave the roadway are 27 percent more likely to die in them than occupants of standard accidents are.

If you are injured in a vehicle that traveled off the road or another vehicle going the wrong-way on a highway has struck you, speak to our Atlantic City car accident attorney. Our lawyers can investigate your accident and determine if negligence or recklessness contributed to your crash.

You may be able to hold another driver liable and seek damages for injury treatment and rehabilitation.

Williamstown Woman Charged For DWI When Vehicle Leaves the Roadway

According to the Press of Atlantic City, a woman was charged with drunk driving after her car flipped multiple times and forced another vehicle off the road in Hamilton Township on June 30.

The news outlet reported that a vehicle driven by a 58-year-old Williamstown woman was traveling at a high rate of speed on north Country Road 559 when the car crossed into oncoming traffic, hit a guardrail and flipped.

Another driver, 51, was driving down the same stretch when he swerved to avoid the accident, leaving the roadway and hitting multiple trees. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the series of crashes.

The Williamstown woman was charged with driving while intoxicated, although the accidents remain under investigation.
