Reportedly, for the second time in less than a week, the safety bar on a NJ transit train was missing, leading to the train’s door flying open. The most recent incident involved the Northeast Corridor train. The incident happened while the train was traveling between Newark Penn Station and Trenton. While riding on the train, a passenger noticed that a door to the train was open. NJ Transit Expected to Approve $1 Million Crash Settlement

NJ Transit board members were expected to approve a $1 million settlement last week for two corrections officers who were injured in a 2013 bus accident. The accident occurred in Jersey City when an NJ Transit bus went around a double-parked vehicle on a roadway and crossed into the path of oncoming traffic. The officers were on their way to a federal courthouse in a van when they were hit. The bus driver was allegedly cited after the crash for leaving the scene of an accident and failure to stay in lane. According to NJ.com, under the settlement agreement, both officers will receive $500,000. Both officers suffered injuries that left them unable to work and have been on disability since the accident.
