Why Was This Union County Doctor Charged With Gross Medical Malpractice?

A doctor in Union County must pay a $130,000 civil penalty, reimburse the state $308,750 and be stripped of his medical license. According to the New Jersey Office of Attorney General, the doctor committed “gross and repeated” medical malpractice, fraud and other violations, including: Creating fictitious patient records Giving unnecessary steroid injections Failing to inform patients of possible side effects and risks Unnecessarily prescribed pain medication Did not monitor sedated patient vitals Did not follow up on potentially deadly symptoms and patient complaints According to the Board of Medical Examiners, this doctor was a “fundamentally corrupt and/or incompetent practitioner” who exhibited a “shocking disregard for patient safety and welfare.” The doctor operated out of the Newark, Belleville, Union and South Orange areas of New Jersey.
