Teen Killed in Middletown Hit-and-Run Accident

According to the Asbury Park Press, on July 8, a 15-year-old girl died following a hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Middletown. The newspaper reported that the teen was crossing Route 36 from east to west near Avenue D, at about 8:30 p.m., when the accident occurred. The driver of a compact car reportedly fled the scene of the accident and was later found. The victim was reportedly flown to the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune after the crash, but she later died because of her injuries. Police are still investigating the accident and charges are pending against the driver of the car, a 49-year-old Leonardo woman. Are Hit-and-Run Accidents Common?

According to the Press of Atlantic City, a man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left a southern New Jersey high school football player with severe injuries. The accident occurred in Pennsville on June 7 when the victim was traveling near a roadway on his skateboard. He reportedly suffered serious injuries to his head, neck, leg and ear. A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection to the accident with assault by auto, and knowingly leaving the scene of an accident with seriously bodily injury. He turned himself into authorities earlier this month and allegedly confessed to the being responsible for the accident.
