What Should I Do If I Am Stuck in an Elevator?

NJ.com recently reported on an incident that happened in an Atlantic City casino involving 14 people who were stuck in an elevator. Reportedly, the guests were trapped in the elevator for over six hours. After the elevator stopped working with occupants inside, hotel staff attempted to get the elevator working again. When attempts to get the elevator working again failed, the fire department was called. Firefighters used rope and a harness to rescue the people, pulling each of them 100 feet to safety. None of the 14 people were injured. There was no mention in the NJ.com article about what caused the elevator to stop working. How Did This Worker Die in This New Jersey Elevator Accident?

A worker died last week in a New Jersey elevator accident. According to Lakehurst Police, the 34-year-old was using a freight elevator to move a delivery load into the basement of a bar when a mechanical error occurred. The worker had one foot outside of the elevator and one on the elevator floor when the elevator unexpectedly lowered and brought a bar down on top of him. Who is to Blame for this Horrible NJ Elevator Accident?

A tragic elevator accident recently took the life of a New Jersey delivery worker. The man was making a restock delivery at a local bar and restaurant. He was in the middle of entering the elevator when the car suddenly lowered. Before he could move he was caught between the elevator and the outside room. The man was rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. What could have been done to prevent this elevator accident? Based on the police report for the accident, it appears the elevator had no safeties or sensors to prevent it from moving before all passengers were safely inside.
