Are Bard Blood Clot Filters Dangerous?

NBC News recently had a troubling story about Recovery blood clot filters, saying that government data has linked the implants to at least 27 deaths.  According to the news outlet, the devices were implanted in thousands of Americans to stop blood clots from reaching major organs. The device is described as a “spider-shaped apparatus” and was manufactured by C.R. Bard, a New Jersey company, from 2003 to 2005, until it was replaced with a newer version. In addition to the 27 deaths, data shows that approximately 300 other non-fatal problems have also been linked to the device. NBC News interviewed one victim, 45, who received the device following a serious car accident.
