The Press of Atlantic City reports that a resident of Northfield lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident. One driver’s actions resulted in a sudden change in traffic conditions that endangered everyone on the road. The deceased was a father, husband and cherished member of his community. His story serves as a warning about the dangers caused by reckless drivers.

What Caused this Atlantic County Motorcycle Accident?

The accident occurred just before noon on September 12. At the time of the crash, the man was traveling east on Longport Boulevard in Egg Harbor Township.

As he approached the JFK bridge, the car in front of him violently stopped and swerved due to the sudden braking of another car. Forced to quickly apply the brakes, he lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the first vehicle. The man died from his injuries a day later.

The accident was believed to have been caused by the front-most car, which had slowed down due to ongoing construction work on the bridge. It is possible that the driver was not paying diligent attention to road conditions and did not see the construction until it was too late to stop safely. At the time of the report, it was unknown if criminal charges had been filed against this driver.

Safe Drivers Can Be Harmed by Negligence on the Road

The family of the motorcycle driver remarked that he was an experienced and safe driver, having ridden for over six years at the time of the accident.

Even the safest of motorcycle and car drivers can be hurt and killed due to the actions of another person on the road. Negligence on the road takes many different shapes and forms, but the effects are always the same – injuries, deaths, property damage, and heartache.

Anyone who causes a person to suffer serious injuries or death must be held accountable for their actions. Atlantic City accident lawyers offer ways for injured people or the surviving family members to pursue justice, compensation and resolution for the harm they have suffered.
