Each year, an estimated 63,000 bus accidents occur in the United States. The crashes involve school buses, charter buses and motor coaches.
In these crashes, an estimate 14,000 people are injured and 325 people are killed.
Sadly, on September 20, seven Absegami High School students were injured in a school bus accident in Medford Township. According to the Press of Atlantic City, the accident occurred when four buses were carrying students traveling to a marching band competition.
The newspaper reported that the crash occurred at around 1:15 p.m., when the third bus carrying students was stopped for traffic and was struck from behind by the fourth bus. Seven people, all juveniles, were injured in the crash.
All seven of the injured passengers were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The crash remains under investigation—the driver of the fourth bus, 65-year-old Dora Previti, of Linwood, was charged with careless driving, according to the Press of Atlantic City.
